Shooting Star Ranch

"When we dreamed up the Stella Cadente Olive Oil Company
the experts told us we were crazy. We have been
growing great olives here since 1995."
1,200 olive trees are planted on the property, all Italian varietals: Frantoio, Pendolino, Coratina, and Leccino.
The olive harvest in the Anderson Valley occurs between November and February.
The bountiful harvest is a combination of climate, soils, water and care — and, as with all farming, a lot of good luck!
Olives can be picked green or purple for olive oil. Here you see the bounty that is hand picked each year by willing volunteers. "We always seem to have enough help at harvest time. I think they come for the big harvest lunch we create for them!"
There is also an 80-tree test plot with UC Davis (12 different varietals) to monitor climate, soil, etc.
This is a view of the east grove in the last slanting rays of a setting sun on a summers evening. One of the many moods of this beautiful ranch.
